Two Stories, Different Outcomes: Intuition & The Power of Choice Ep 177 | Julia Marie

Julia Marie Episode 177

Send us a text

This week, Julia Marie shares the stories of two men who each received signals from their Inner Guidance System.

One recognized the signals, but chose to finish the job he was working on.

The other waited patiently for a clear signal from the Universe as to what his next step should be.

Same source for the guidance, with very different results. This is the power of free will choice.

  • The first story is about a young business owner who repeatedly saw the numbers 1 and 4 in various combinations, which he recognized as a sign from his angels. [03:28] Despite these intuitive warnings, he ignored them and ended up having a serious fall from a roof that caused him injury. [07:42] He learned to trust and follow his intuitive guidance more closely after this experience. [10:02]

  • The second story is about a Lakota man who was adopted as a child and later found his way back to his tribe. [11:17] When faced with a difficult career decision, he turned to his spiritual connection and intuition for guidance. [13:31] He received a clear sign in the form of a childhood lullaby that helped him decide to take on a new leadership role serving his Native American community. [14:57]

Julia Marie (00:00):

On this episode of Evolving Humans, I'll share two relatable stories with you. Each is about how the person interacted with their intuition, a journey we can all relate to. Why am I sharing these stories with you today? Because they're two examples of the kind of stories I'd like to share more of here on Evolving Humans. This podcast is not just about me, it's about us, our shared journey of personal growth and spiritual evolution. Welcome to Evolving Humans, the podcast for awakening souls. I'm your host, Julia Marie. Settle in and get ready for another spirited conversation.
(01:03)
In one example, a student of mine received multiple signs, recognized them, but didn't take the action he felt he needed to That day, he learned a very important lesson. The other story comes from a dear friend I met while following spirit myself. I arrived at a small powwow held on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. I was the guest of a family I was sponsoring. Spirit guided me to set up my chair next to an empty chair that was already there in the circle. Shortly after I got settled, a young man sat down as we talked, two strangers connected because we were both actively following our spiritual guidance. He's still a friend decades after that meeting, and he's taught me so much about listening to the stillness within. We're collectively transforming the way we interact with each other and with the universe. Great mystery source, God, whatever label you're most comfortable with that describes the ineffable presence that permeates everything and is the essence of our very being.
(02:18)
I would like to share your story in order to inspire others to push their limits and begin to live differently. Instead of living based on external input, we start to live from the inside out. Humanity is evolving and this way of living life is an essential step in our development from homo sapiens to what I like to call Homo Galactic or Humanity 2.0. Yes, we get upgrades too. If you get the nudge, please follow that signal from your soul and send your story to me. Your experience is not just valuable. It's integral to the collective and to the evolving humans community. We can all learn from each other more quickly than we can learn on our own. Please notice how the two stories presented here are simple everyday situations we all navigate. However, notice the difference intuition plays in each instance. That's the real point I want to make with this series.
(03:26)
Enjoy this episode. This first story is from a former student of mine, a young man who owned his own business one time. He experienced a few days worth of repeatedly noticing a recurrence of various combinations of the numbers one and four, according to my favorite numbers website, angel Numbers by Joanne Sacred scribes. I'll put the link in the show notes below. The combination of ones and fours is a sign his angels were working to help him. Ones and fours together send the message that he needed to remain aware of his thoughts or intentions in the moment. Put another way. The message from his higher wisdom was pay attention. Now, here's Craig's story.
(04:23)
Everywhere I looked, I saw the numbers one in four in various combinations, and it was happening so often. I knew it was more than just a coincidence when I started to think about what they could be trying to tell me what the message might be. The only thing that came to me was a car accident I might get into or a fall off a roof at work. Now, the last one was very likely as I own a roofing company and I'm up on roofs a lot. A couple of days after I had the insight that the numbers were about a wreck or falling off of a roof, I had a couple of close calls with other vehicles on the road. The relief that washed over me was palpable. Knowing that I had paid enough attention to the numbers to gain insight and avert the potential negative experience, I began to relax thinking it was behind me, but the numbers kept showing up.
(05:24)
I had a customer for whom we'd done a complete roof a couple of months earlier, but we still needed to install their skylight. Until this part of the job was completed. We would not receive payment for the work on the roof. We tried numerous times to complete the skylight installation job, but it would rain every time we tried to schedule it. This happened on at least eight different occasions. It happened enough that I wondered if Spirit was trying to tell me something. I was still getting those numbers too. On the day we had scheduled to install the skylight, I noticed combinations of ones and fours on the digital clock. Some rain showers were also forecast to move in in the afternoon, adding a sense of urgency about getting this job done earlier rather than later. I also felt a strong sense that something was trying to prevent me from getting up on the roof.
(06:24)
That day. The employee who was supposed to work with me on the installation was 45 minutes late. When I got to the location of the skylight installation, I realized I had forgotten a critical component for the installation itself, so I had to leave the site to get the flashings. Usually, any of these things would've been enough of a sign for me to reschedule the work, but six weeks had already passed since we tried to get the skylight in. Despite additional intuitive hits I received that almost caused me to reschedule the job, my rational mind kept telling me to just get it done, so we went ahead with the installation.
(07:12)
We seem to be getting lucky, dodging some nearby showers, and we moved right along. It looked like we would finish up and be able to get off the roof with the job completed. Despite all these challenges just then it started to sprinkle, but when it started to rain, we were so close to being finished, but I did not want to stop. We were working on a steep roof and the pad I was sitting on started to slip because of the moisture collecting on the roof. Before I could catch myself, I slid about 10 feet down the roof and then 10 feet from the guttering at the roof's edge straight down onto the concrete below. My mind was really clear as I fell, I was bracing for impact. When I hit the ground, the pain was really intense. I thought I'd likely broken my foot or my arm or something.
(08:12)
As I lay there on the ground, the rain started pouring down and I knew I was in shock. I was in severe pain, but was pretty sure after a mental assessment of the damage that I hadn't broken anything, and somehow I'd kept from hitting my head on the concrete. My wrist hurt really badly and so did my elbow. I finally gathered the strength to make it to the truck. I was rocking back and forth and trying to do anything to take away the pain. Just when I started to feel a little bit better, I had a thought pop into my head. Look at the clock. When I looked over at the clock in the dashboard of the truck, it read 10 44, the fours again, my employee cleaned up the job site and put the ladder in the truck. It took him a while, and as I waited, I was thinking about the ones and fours and how I had pushed through a number of obstacles and used my logical mind.
(09:19)
Instead of paying attention to the signs I'd been given more than one thing happened, that under normal circumstances would've kept me from working that day. Right about the time I realized all of this, I heard a message in my mind again, now look at the clock, so I did. It was 1144. The ones and the fours were together. This time, I knew it was another sign. I had repeatedly been given signs through these numbers, but I kept pushing them away. I kept making decisions according to my rational mind. Instead of following the messages from Spirit and the intuitive hits, I'd been getting my I powered past them and paid a heavy price for doing that. Since that event, I followed what I get now and rarely even catch myself doubting what comes to me anymore. I still use discernment of course, and I pay attention to how I feel about it and what my other senses are telling me, but generally, I follow what I'm getting because I don't know if I would be so lucky the next time.
(10:46)
What's your most important takeaway from this story? Take a few moments to write it down. It may come in handy another day. The second story comes from a Lakota friend of mine who lives his life listening for guidance and following that guidance to the best of his understanding. My name is John, and I am an OG Lakota Sioux Indian. I am called a lost bird by the people of my culture. At birth, I was given up for adoption so that I might have greater opportunities and a better life. I was adopted by kind and loving parents of European descent who knew very little about American Indian culture, faith, or traditions. When I was very young, my mom often sang a song to me at bedtime. Oh, the moon shines tonight on Pretty Red Wing, a song from my Native American roots. Though though I was physically separated from my people, my mother's attempt to integrate a cultural connection into my childhood was a beautiful and heartwarming gesture I will never forget and will always cherish. Eventually, this lost bird found its way back to the tribe and was warmly welcomed by them. The embrace of my elders and the acceptance of my people filled me with the sense of belonging that I had. Long for many years later, I was at a crossroads in my life. After 20 years of building a successful career in nonprofit fundraising and management, I decided to change direction and work more closely with families in Indian country.
(12:43)
I had recently completed my master's degree in counseling and was working as a clinical caseworker for the Denver Indian Family Resource Center. I was on my way to serving as a therapist in the Denver American Indian community. Eight months into my new career at D-I-F-R-C, it became clear that after a failed two year long search for an executive director, the organization needed leadership. Eventually, in late July, the board asked me if I would be interested in the position. After having made a spirit oriented decision to leave nonprofit management behind, I now had a very difficult choice to make. On the one hand, I thought I knew what I was supposed to be doing. Yet life had just delivered an opportunity to serve my people in another way. I did not know what to do, but I knew I needed guidance from the great mystery because I understood the profound influence of spiritual connection in guiding my decisions. One of my Lakota elders key teachings was allowing the great mystery, a concept that encompasses the spiritual force that guides and shapes our lives to speak to me.
(14:02)
This meant paying attention to all forms of possible communication, such as totem animals showing up in my life or situations and signs that would guide my way forward. In a spiritual sense, it meant being present enough to recognize the creator's answer to my prayers for guidance. The board made the request of me on a Friday, and the next day I committed myself to lying on the couch in silent contemplation while searching my soul for an answer about the direction I was supposed to take. I heard the faint sounds of an ice cream cart approaching as the ice cream man got closer. I realized I recognized the tune the cart was playing. It was the song my mother sang to me at bedtime. Oh, the moon shines tonight on a pretty red wing. In that music, I heard the voices of my ancestors calling me to take the new position. I decided to follow the guidance of the great mystery and serve my people as the executive director of this wonderful organization. I learned long ago that the great mystery will always show me the way forward. The direction to take is usually obvious, and my only decision is whether to follow the divinely guided path or use my free will to take a little detour.

This story has a couple of really good takeaways in it. What's your favorite takeaway from this second story? Take a moment maybe to write it down. Now you've heard two examples of the kinds of stories I want to share here on Evolving Humans. Please contribute your experience with the universe by leaving me a message. You can do that by clicking on the link at the top of the show notes. I can't wait to hear your story. Well, that's our time for today.
