Julia Marie (00:00):
This is Evolving Humans, the podcast for Awakening Souls. I'm your host, Julia Marie. Settle in and get ready for another spirited conversation. Welcome and thanks for joining us. Here's another reading for you from my upcoming book, signals from My Soul, a spiritual memoir of Awakening. Chapter 10, go see the white buffalo
(00:37):
When you choose to live your life from the inside out and commit to following guidance to the best of your ability, you'll need patience. Learning to trust the impressions you receive through your growing connection to the universe requires time. As humans, we're addicted to instant gratification. We want it now. And yet, when you're interacting with the realm where there is no time and believe you didn't
interpret the message correctly, here's a story encouraging you to walk the path one step at a time, and when you do, you'll eventually reach your destination. In the late 1990s, I kept hearing go see the white buffalo. The only white buffalo I knew about was the one born in 1992 in Janesville, Wisconsin. This ask from Spirit was no small request. The trip is over 1200 miles, so it would take more than a day to get
there. I was living in Red Lodge, Montana, a small mountain town at the edge of the Beartooth Mountains in the western part of the state. At the time,
(01:52):
The summers were incredible at 5,555 feet, but winters were bitterly cold. We measured the snowfall there in feet, not in inches. A wood stove heated our little house, so I got plenty of exercise splitting and stacking wood to feed the hungry hearth. Every time I attempted to make the trip to Janesville, something came up to prevent me from traveling to Wisconsin. The car needed repair. There was a family emergency or there were scheduling conflicts. I was frustrated. My guidance was to go see the
white buffalo. But every time I tried, circumstances prevented me from doing what the universe asked me to do. Finally, I gave up trying to complete this task. Clearly I was missing something. Either I needed to understand the message or it wasn't time to make that trek. Almost seven years passed. I finally got to see the white buffalo. The opportunity finally came after a move to another home base in a totally
different state. The black hills of South Dakota was the perfect place to rest from over a decade of serving spirit, even God rested. So I suppose a vacation is in order occasionally even for someone living according to guidance,
(03:28):
Time to relax and recharge.
(03:33):
So Lakota people call this land the heart of all that is. And when you look at a satellite image of the Black Hills, you can see they are shaped almost exactly like a human heart. I looked forward to spending some time in solitude in a beautiful log home, nestled in the pine covered hills behind Crazy Horse Mountain, which is just outside of Custer, South Dakota. While driving around the area, I found a serene sanctuary.
I had an impulse to turn off the main road onto a gravel road that led into the woods. That road was a cul-de-sac, and at the end of that cul-de-sac was an incredible log home. It wasn't for rent then, but a few months later, it became available and I moved from Montana to South Dakota. This log home tucked away among the trees was peaceful and just what my soul needed. Standing in the living room, I looked out the wall of windows, a story and a half tall, and saw the face of crazy horse carved into the
mountain nearby the occasional flock of turkeys, a herd of deer that grazed on the slopes below, and the cougar that stopped by to check out the back deck one day.
(05:00):
Other than Birdsong, the only thing I heard was the sound of the wind in the pines. During my walks in the woods, I often found large pieces of rose quartz that could have come home with me. But when I placed my hand on them to feel the energy, none of them wanted to leave their happy homes. During my time in the Black Hills, I learned powerful lessons that expanded my understanding of our human
relationship to the unseen world and the power of possibility inherent in that relationship.
(05:35):
These lessons came primarily from quiet observation of my surroundings and how the landscape changed with the seasons. The forest was mostly pine, and that was the one constant spring brought incredible bursts of green in the meadows and the reemergence of hibernating animals. Squirrels and chipmunks started chattering in the trees. The deer and the turkeys were present year round and were
grateful for any food I put out for them. I began to have regular visitors when I left a food source out in the yard for the deer and on the back deck for the turkeys fall brought the evening extreme drop in temperatures, heralding the coming of winter and the snow that soon blanketed the area meant the pellet stove in the living room would be running full time. I made sure I had plenty of fuel for the
starving. It grounded me to live in harmony with the land, and that connection renewed my strength.
When I moved to Custer, one of the first things I did was visit the museum at Crazy Horse Mountain. Next to the main museum was a smaller building that called to me, so I went inside to look around.
There were few exhibits and nothing caught my attention. I wondered why the energy pulled me in there and turned to leave. Then I spotted a large poster board with some newspaper articles glued to it, lying flat on a table in the corner.
(07:14):
I saw some photographs and other information about a white buffalo in Wyoming, a two hour drive away. This article was the first I'd ever heard of a white buffalo anywhere than the one in Janesville, Wisconsin. That's interesting. I thought Wyoming was more of a drive than I was willing to make at the time, and frankly, I'd given up on Spirit's invitation to go see the white buffalo. I left without taking down
any of their contact information. A few weeks later in the grocery store, I spotted a newspaper the Lakota Times, with an article about a pregnant white buffalo on the front page. It turned out to be the same buffalo I had seen the story about on the poster board lying on the table at Crazy Horse Mountain. That's when I realized that this might be the white buffalo. The universe was trying to get me to visit repetition of something, especially when it happens close in time, like this is a signal to pay attention. I
decided to see this buffalo when my daughter visited in May. The universe had other plans. Thank goodness I knew how to go with the flow by then.
(08:36):
That Easter Sunday, I first saw a miracle moon.
(08:41):
I was sitting in my recliner in my living room working on a personal beaded medicine bag on a beautiful day in April when I heard be, be repeating like a mantra in my head, I'd seen that name recently. It was the town nearest to where the Wyoming white buffalo was born. An hour later, I got the message that the time to see the white buffalo was now I changed clothes, got in my car and started the two hour drive.
